The American Disabilities Act was designed to help the physically challenged and handicapped, unfortunately the laws and regulations were so comprehensive they had serious unintended consequences from coast to coast. The rules were too stringent and costly to small businesses and lawyers used them to sue many companies right out of business. The idea behind the ADA rules make sense, but the consequences have been dire for many businesses. In the end the ADA should be no problem and it should be great for all concerned.

Watching the hearings on the confirmation of Judge Samuel Alito, Jr., I could see the fear in the faces of the leaders of women and minorities groups who were testifying. Judge Alito will be a very conservative member of the Supreme Court. If he had served on earlier courts that increased rights of women and minorities, the outcomes probably would not have been as favorable to women and minorities. The progress made by women and minorities could take a step backwards when Judge Alito is confirmed (a foregone conclusion).

It would seem to me lately the US Government and the people in general, talk shows included are more concerned with the US Census, than with bin LadenÂ’s most recent message to America. I try to stay out of politics, and war time crap, but I find myself falling back on it when I get irritated, and this avoiding and making little out of Bin LadenÂ’s message, as if it was a baloney sandwich, is too much to deal with, so I got to say my peace. In other years IÂ’ve written over 200-articles on such issues, I shall write one more making it 201, and then try to get back to my poetry.
